Question:
Lessons for Big Puppy Owners.

Answer:
Puppies learn most rapidly before fourteen weeks of age and retain those lessons for life. So, imagine a large breed dog like a Mastiff at nine weeks old standing on his hind legs reaching up for kisses, cheek and back rubs as you sit on the couch. You scoop him up and place him on the couch as you watch television. Later, you tuck him under the covers as a foot warmer.

Warning! At five months old, your large breed pup will not grasp the concept that he’s grown to over 50 pounds. He will still try putting his front paws on you for lovin’, sitting on the couch and sleeping in your bed. Training your puppy at six months of age not to jump on you and stay off furniture is much harder after you’ve already taught him that’s how to get the goodies when his learning was at a peak.

Do both of you a huge favor and start the adult dog rules with your puppy from day one.
